Hartford Line Schedule Adjustments to Accommodate the Penn Station Access Project

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is alerting riders that temporary weekday train schedule adjustments will be in effect from March 6, 2023, through April 2, 2023, on the Hartford Line (HL). This work is necessary to accommodate trackwork on Amtrak’s Hell Gate Line in New York City to support the Penn Station Access (PSA) project. The PSA project will enable Metro-North trains to use the Hell Gate Line to connect to the west side of Manhattan and into Penn Station, expanding traveling options for Connecticut passengers.

This schedule adjustment will impact weekday train departure times by up to 35minutes.As a result, some connecting trains may have changed. These schedule changes will not affect any station platform boarding assignments. As a reminderspecific trains will continue to be bused throughout April for Amtrak’s Rail Replacement Project .

Amtrak train 494 has a significant schedule adjustment, departing New Haven Union Station at 8:10 p.m., 35 minutes later than the current scheduled departure.

Several other weekday HL trains may depart up to 15 minutes earlier or later than the current schedule.

Passengers can find the updated schedule here and are encouraged to visit HartfordLine.com or Amtrak.com for the latest service information. Riders can also sign up for alerts sent directly to their phone or email at HartfordLine.com/service-alerts.

While passengers are no longer required to wear masks on board trains or in stations, masks are welcome and remain an important preventive measure against COVID-19. Anyone needing or choosing to wear one is encouraged to do so.
