The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is alerting riders of the upcoming temporary weekend train service adjustments effective Friday, June 23, 2023, through Monday, June 26, 2023, on the Hartford Line (HL). Train service will be substituted by buses for CTrail trains operating between Hartford and Springfield, MA, and all Amtrak service on the Hartford Line.
The busing is necessary to accommodate Amtrak’s work on the Connecticut River Bridge north of Hartford along with CTDOT’s work on Track 1 at the new Windsor Locks Station site. The bridge work is required to keep the railroad bridge in a state of good repair.
“While Amtrak is doing work on the Connecticut River Bridge, we’re going to take advantage of the track outage to do necessary work for the new Windsor Locks station,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Rail Administrator Rich Jankovich. “By working together with our partners, we’re able to limit disruptions and get these important projects moving. We appreciate riders being patient over the weekend while these projects are occurring on the Hartford Line.”
This work will require bus substitutions for all Amtrak trains between New Haven and Springfield, MA, and all CTrail trains between Hartford and Springfield, MA. All CTrail service will continue to operate as trains between New Haven and Hartford. These schedule changes will not impact any station platform boarding assignments. Bus departure times may be earlier than regular train departure times at stations.
CTrail trains will only depart Hartford after boarding all passengers bussed from Springfield, Windsor Locks, and Windsor stations. Passengers can find the latest Hartford Line schedule here and are encouraged to visit HartfordLine.com or Amtrak.com for the latest service information and scheduled departure times.
