CTDOT is developing plans to make drainage improvements on Route 42 in Cheshire.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Office of Engineering is developing plans to make drainage improvements on Route 42 in Cheshire.

The purpose of the project is to improve the drainage along Route 42 in the vicinity of 372 North Brooksvale Road. The project involves upgrading the existing 24” and 12” trunk lines to 48” and 24” reinforced concrete pipes. Several other existing catch basins will be upgraded to double grate catch basins and new catch basins will be installed to mitigate flooding issues. All other state catch basin and manhole structures will be replaced within the project limits. All existing sidewalk ramps within the project limits will be brought up to ADA standards and crosswalks will be installed connecting them

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in late 2024, with construction anticipated to start in summer 2025, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with eighty percent (80%) federal and twenty percent (20%) state funds.

It is CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with CTDOT to assist in the project's development. A public informational meeting will be conducted upon the completion of the preliminary design.

If anyone has any questions or comments on this project, contact Matthew Vail, P.E., Principal Engineer (860-594-3274; Matthew.Vail@ct.gov). Please reference State Project No. 0025-0149.
