CTDOT Bridge Maintenance Facility Planned on Route 32 in Franklin

The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s (CTDOT) Office of Engineering is developing plans for construction of a new maintenance facility on Route 32 in Franklin.  The purpose of this project is to replace a functionally obsolete maintenance facility.

The project involves the construction of a new bridge maintenance building that will include operational areas for maintenance operations and private offices with support office spaces.

A new 2,440 square foot cold storage structure will also be constructed along with corresponding site improvements. No additional personnel or equipment are anticipated under the project. The present schedule indicates that final design plans will be available in September 2023. The project will be state funded.

It is CTDOT’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with the Department to assist in the project's development. If there is adequate interest, an informational meeting will be conducted. At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary.

Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Michael Strong, Project Manager (860-594-3306; michael.strong@ct.gov).  Please refer to the Franklin Bridge Maintenance Facility.
