The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) alerts the public of proposed improvements to CTtransit bus service in Central Connecticut, including Hartford, Bristol, Meriden, New Britain, Southington, and Waterbury.
The changes include adjustments to CTtransit local and express service that improves efficiencies to existing routes and connections between bus and rail. It also includes new expanded service, such as a local bus route serving Southington, expanded hours on all Meriden local routes on nights and weekends, and weekday service in Waterbury/Naugatuck.
“Support from Governor Lamont and the Legislature in this biennial budget provides a significant investment aimed at improving Connecticut’s bus system,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Deputy Commissioner Karen Kitsis. “These new routes and expanded hours are the first of many changes being proposed with this new funding. We are very proud and excited to support these service improvements which help improve mobility for our residents.”
“CTDOT is delighted to review these proposed transit service investments that were provided by the Governor and Legislature that prioritizes convenience for all transit customers throughout the state,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Bureau Chief of Public Transportation Ben Limmer. “Public input is critical to the success of these investments. We take the comments and input we receive very seriously and make adjustments based on what we hear.”
CTDOT and CTtransit are accepting comments regarding these changes via email and at pop-up events. Comments can be emailed to communications@cttransit.com. Pop-up events are being held at the following locations and times:
- Tuesday, August 29; CTfastrak Downtown New Britain Station; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 30; Meriden Transit Center (State Street); 1– 4 p.m.
- Thursday, August 31;CTfastrak Downtown New Britain Station; 2 – 5 p.m.
CTDOT always accepts customer feedback and encourages riders to provide comments on these Fall 2023 service adjustments prior to Friday, September 15, 2023.
