CTDOT Announces Service Changes for the Hartford Line

Hartford Line Schedule Changes to Go into Effect on Monday, January 24, 2022

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced rail service changes on the Hartford Line due to staffing challenges within the Amtrak system caused by the recent increase in positive COVID-19 cases. The following rail schedule changes will go into effect on Monday, January 24, 2022 and will continue until Sunday, March 27, 2022.

New Haven-bound:

  • Weekday Amtrak train 451 will operate as a bus substitute
  • Weekend Amtrak train 405 (Sunday) will operate as a bus substitute
  • Weekend Amtrak train 143 will not operate
  • Amtrak train 475 will operate 25 minutes earlier, departing Springfield Station at 3:30 PM
  • CTrail train 4405 will operate 5 minutes earlier, departing Springfield Station at 11:25 AM
  • CTrail train 4415 will operate 5 minutes earlier, departing Springfield Station at 9:25 PM
  • A new CTrail train 6465 will temporarily replace Amtrak train 465 departing Springfield at 3:55 PM on Sundays only

Hartford/Springfield-bound:

  • Weekday Amtrak train 412 will operate as a bus substitute
  • Friday Amtrak train 136 will not operate
  • Weekend Amtrak train 146 (Saturday) will not operate
  • Weekend Amtrak train 416 (Sunday) will operate as a bus substitute
  • Amtrak train 470 will operate 24 minutes later, departing New Haven Union Station at 10:50 AM
  • Amtrak train 458 will operate in place of train 460 on Saturdays and will depart New Haven Union Station at 10:45 AM 
  • A new CTrail train 6450 will temporarily replace Amtrak train 450 departing New Haven Union Station at 8:55 AM on the weekends

Passengers are encouraged to visit HartfordLine.com or Amtrak.com for the latest service information. Trains operated as a bus substitution will stop at all Hartford Line Stations and passengers will be directed to the bus pick up and drop off location by signage at the platform. Bus substituted train station time departures will closely match scheduled train time departures and can be found at HartfordLine.com as soon as they are available.

CTDOT would like to remind customers to always wear a mask or face covering onboard trains and at stations. Customers who feel sick should not use public transportation. Information about all rail services in Connecticut is available at CTrail.com.
