The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the proposed Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 03637, carrying Route 130 over Yellow Mill Channel in Bridgeport on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place on Zoom and registration is required. For instructions on how to access the meeting, ways to provide comments and how to ask questions can be found at the project webpage: http://portal.ct.gov/DOTBridgeport15-385.

The Virtual Public Information Meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community an opportunity to learn about the proposed project and allow an open discussion of any views and comments concerning the proposed improvements. A Q&A session will immediately follow the presentation.

Bridge No. 03637, originally built in 1926, carries Route 130 over Yellow Mill Channel in the City of Bridgeport. The bridge is 340 feet long and consists of three approach spans and one movable span. The movable span is a four-leaf rolling bascule span with a span of 122 feet. There are sidewalks on both sides of the bridge. The purpose of the project is to address the operational, safety, and preventative maintenance concerns, and to upgrade the structural integrity of the entire bridge to a “state of good repair” extending its service life.

There are no right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project, however, a Tidal Structures Dredging and Fill Permit and a Section 401 Water Quality Certification will be required from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) for the proposed work.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2025 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way and approval of permits. The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $15 million.

This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80 percent Federal funds and 20 percent State funds. The project is identified as State Project No. 0015-0385.
