Public Invited to Informational Meeting Regarding the Replacement of the Route 207 Bridge over Beaver Brook in Franklin

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will hold an in-person public informational meeting regarding the replacement of the Route 207 bridge over Beaver Brook in Franklin on Monday, October 24 at 7 p.m. at the Franklin Municipal Complex, 5 Tyler Dr., Franklin, CT. A Question and Answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation for only those in-person. For instructions on ways to provide comments and how to ask questions, please visit https://portal.ct.gov/DOTFranklin52-93.

The public informational meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project.

The purpose of the project is to bring the structure (Bridge No. 01547) to a state of good repair. Due to the condition of the existing bridge, the bridge is proposed to be replaced. The new bridge is proposed to be located in approximately the same location with the following geometry changes: clear span increase from 28 feet to 55 feet, skew decrease from 45 degrees to 37 degrees, bridge width widening from 40 feet to 53.5 feet, and road profile raise of approximately 21 inches. These geometry changes are to address the environmental and hydraulic stream crossing requirements.

There are right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements. Temporary construction easements will be required on adjacent private property in order to perform the work, and to temporarily relocate utilities. Temporary driveways will be required during construction.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring of 2024 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $6.6 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with eighty percent (80%) Federal funds and twenty percent (20%) State funds. The project is identified as State Project No. 0052-0093.

Language assistance may be requested by contacting the CTDOT Language Assistance Call Line (860) 594-2109. Requests should be made at least five business days prior to the meeting.
