CTDOT Invites the Public to a Virtual Public Information Meeting for the Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 06847, Route 2 over Polly Brook, Bozrah, CT

Residents Encouraged to Take Advantage of Opportunity to Learn about and Discuss the Proposed Construction Project in Bozrah, Connecticut

(Newington, CT) - The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a Virtual Public Information Meeting concerning the proposed rehabilitation of Bridge No. 06847 on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The meeting will be live streamed via Microsoft Teams Live Event and YouTube Live. A Question and Answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation which will be recorded. Instructions on how to access the meeting and on how to provide comments or ask questions can be found on the project webpage: State Project No. 0013-0089.

The purpose of the project is to address the deterioration of the existing 84 in. diameter Asphalt Coated Corrugated Metal Pipe (ACCMP) culvert. A 72 in. diameter hydraulically smooth interior aluminum pipe will be slip-lined within the existing pipe. Slip-lining grout will be utilized to fill in the annular space between the existing and proposed pipes. Cutoff walls are anticipated to be installed below the existing headwalls, to help prevent scour issues from undermining the headwalls. Permanent access roads will be constructed at both the inlet and outlet, in order to facilitate construction, and perform future culvert maintenance.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2024 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permits. The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $1.2 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80 percent Federal Funds and 20 percent State funds. Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project are not anticipated.
