CTDOT Announces Weekend Shuttles Between The Big E and Springfield Train Station and Enfield Park and Ride
Shuttle Services to The Big E on Weekends
Available for Hartford Line Riders and from Enfield Square Mall Park and Ride
Today, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced the availability of two weekend shuttle bus options to The Big E. One is from Springfield Union Station and the other is from the Enfield Square Mall park and ride lot off I-91 at Exit 48. The shuttle buses will be operated by King Gray Coach Lines and will serve passengers on all three weekends of The Big E (September 18-19, 25-26, and October 2-3, 2021). To avoid and minimize traffic all weekend, fairgoers are encouraged to use the King Gray Shuttles to travel to and from The Big E.
The weekend train shuttle is a free service for Hartford Line train passengers arriving at Springfield Union Station. The shuttle will meet incoming Hartford Line trains from New Haven at Gate 24 in the bus area of the train station. A return shuttle will depart The Big E’s Transportation Center near Gate 1 at The Big E to meet southbound trains.
A second weekend shuttle option for fairgoers departs the Enfield Square Mall park and ride lot (I-91, Exit 48) every half-hour from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and returns to the lot every half-hour until 11:00 pm. This shuttle will only operate on weekends. Tickets for the Enfield shuttle are $20 for adults and $15 for children ages six to 12, which include admission to The Big E and round-trip transportation. Tickets for only the round-trip shuttle is $5 for ages six and up. Purchases are CASH ONLY and tickets will be sold on-site from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking at the Enfield Square Mall park and ride lot is free.
On all weekdays, regular Pioneer Valley Transportation Authority (PVTA) bus services will be available on routes 14, 15, and 16 which serve West Springfield from Union Station. Visit PVTA.com for routes and fares.
“We are very happy to announce the availability of the weekend train and park and ride shuttle services being provided by The Big E,” said Richard Andreski, Public Transportation Bureau Chief, CTDOT. “They will get Connecticut residents to the fair on the weekends without the traffic and parking hassles so they can take advantage of all The Big E has to offer.”

All train, bus, and shuttle passengers are reminded that they must wear a mask while onboard all public transportation vehicles, King Gray Coach Line shuttles and at stations. All fairgoers must also adhere to any additional state and local public health guidelines and requirements while visiting The Big E. These preventative measures will help maintain a safe and healthy travel experience for all.
