• 4/13/2020 CTDOT Highway Safety Office - Slow Down

  The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office is reminding motorists to maintain safe and reasonable speeds on Connecticut highways during the current period of lower traffic volumes. Travel should be restricted essential trips only during this time of social distancing. But, if you must go out, please obey the posted speed limit.

• 4/10/2020 Food Trucks Temporarily Permitted at CTDOT Highway Rest Areas

  The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) today announced that food trucks will be permitted to set up in several rest areas along Connecticut highways, with the goal of feeding hungry truckers and other essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

• 4/6/2020 CTDOT OFFERS TELEWORKING BEST PRACTICES RESOURCES

  The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will host a webinar for Connecticut residents who are now teleworking as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar, titled “Best Teleworking Practices – The Road to Success for Employees”, will take place on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 from 12 noon to 1pm.

• 4/6/2020 GOVERNOR LAMONT - Q BRIDGE TO BE ILLUMINATED RED IN HONOR OF HEALTH CARE WORKERS

  Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the State of Connecticut will illuminate the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge in New Haven – more commonly known among residents as the Q Bridge – in red lights beginning tonight to honor the thousands of Connecticut health care workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  Governor Ned Lamont, Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Mayor Justin Elicker, U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro and Transportation Commissioner Joseph Giulietti today commemorated the 100th anniversary of the opening of New Haven Union Station – the beaux-arts masterpiece that is the jewel of the New Haven commuter rail line.

  The Connecticut Department of Transportation today announced changes to rail service and issued reminders about the status of bus service. The rail service changes follow a significant decline in ridership, the result of increased teleworking and requests by Governor Ned Lamont for citizens to “Stay Safe, Stay Home.”

  The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing immediate temporary changes to bus operations due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Connecticut. These changes are being implemented to safeguard drivers and the public, and protect continuity of operation of Connecticut’s bus system during this difficult time. These changes will be implemented on all CTtransit and CTfastrak buses as well as all transit districts in Connecticut.

• 3/14/2020 SERVICE CHANGES ANNOUNCED FOR SHORE LINE EAST AND HARTFORD LINE

  The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced rail service changes on Shore Line East and Hartford Line as part of the State of Connecticut’s coordinated effort to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19. The following rail schedule changes will go into effect Monday, March 16th and will continue until further notice.
