FREE MASK DISTRIBUTION TO TRANSIT RIDERS CONTINUES
MTA's Metro Man was on hand to distribute masks at the Stamford Station
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) today announced that another statewide mask distribution effort is taking place on September 15th. Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz will be joining transit staff handing out masks on the New Haven Green from 7-9 am.
In light of rebounding transit ridership, CTDOT is reminding passengers, “Forgot your mask? Just ask.” Free masks are available to transit passengers at staffed bus and rail ticket sales outlets and onboard trains if a commuter has forgotten their mask.
The use of face coverings on public transportation was ordered by Governor Lamont in Executive Order No. 7BB, effective April 20, 2020 and updated by Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz in Executive Order No. 7NNN, effective August 14, 2020. Since that time, compliance with the order on buses has been exceptional. The distribution of masks at this time is being done to remind passengers of the importance of wearing masks to protect yourself, bus and rail staff, and fellow passengers and to reduce any complacency in light of our achievements as a state.
On September 15th, masks will be distributed at the following locations:
