  • 12/17/2019 Connecticut Christmas Train Travel

    In anticipation of increased holiday travel demand, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced there will be four extra CTrail Hartford Line trains between New Haven and Hartford on Tuesday, December 24. The additional two round-trip trains will operate five to 10 minutes behind scheduled northbound Amtrak trains and will operate 30 to 40 minutes behind Amtrak southbound trains.

  • 12/3/2019 Record Rail Ridership on the Hartford Line for Thanksgiving Travel

    The Hartford Line saw record train ridership between New Haven and Springfield during Thanksgiving weekend. The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) ran extra CTrail Hartford Line trains on November 26-27 and December 1st.

  • 11/27/2019 CTDOT Seeking Additional Input on Next Fleet of Rail Cars

    The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is in the beginning stages of purchasing a new fleet of rail cars. An initial public survey was launched September 12, 2019 and closed October 14, 2019. The Department received a significant number of responses that provided great insight into what customers would like to see in the state’s next generation of rail cars. However, the project team has realized that the procurement process would benefit from additional customer insight via a short follow-up survey.

    The Connecticut Department of Transportation, City of New Haven and Greater New Haven Transit District today announced the completion of the Move New Haven bus study. Move New Haven is a comprehensive review of CTtransit New Haven bus service, the second busiest bus transit system in Connecticut.

    Service on the New Haven Line was severely impacted overnight due to high winds and signal problems.

    Service is bgeing restored on the New Haven commuter rail line and the New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury branch lines. Some residual delays remain. Amtrak, Shore Line East and Hartford Line service has been restored with some delays.

  • 9/25/2019 Metro-North Train Schedule Changes Effective Septermber 29 2019

    MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that new schedules will take effect on Sunday, Sept. 29, on the Harlem, Hudson, and New Haven lines. Metro-North crews successfully completed a series of crucial improvements to the section of track between Mott Haven and Woodlawn on the Harlem Line in the Bronx. With the work complete, and all four tracks now back in service, customers will see significant improvements in train frequencies and will have more travel options.

  • 9/13/2019 REMINDER - CTDOT ANNOUNCES RAIL ACCIDENT SIMULATION TRAINING DRILL FOR SATURDAY

    As a reminder, a simulated rail accident training drill will occur on Saturday, September 14, 2019 between 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. in New Haven. The drill, which will appear and sound realistic, will take place as part of ongoing safety training, practice, reinforcement, and refinement exercises designed to achieve the highest level of safety along the CTrail Hartford Line and Shore Line East.

  • 9/12/2019 CTDOT Launches Go CT Mobile Fare Payment App For CTtransit Bus Riders

    The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced today the availability of the new Go CT Mobile app in both the Google Play and Apple App stores. This new app extends the capabilities of the Go CT Card by allowing riders to pay their CTtransit or CTfastrak bus fare, as well as see their account balance and transaction history while on the go.
