CTDOT Announces the Availability of the State’s

Draft 2018 Connecticut Statewide Long-Range Transportation Plan

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the release of the State’s Draft 2018 Connecticut Statewide Long-Range Transportation Plan (Plan) and the launch of a 45-day public comment period. The draft document will be available for public review beginning Monday, December 18, 2017. CTDOT will also be holding two public information meetings to present the draft Plan and receive comments on it. Members of the public may present comments during one of the two meetings or submit written comments by mail or electronically. Comments received by Thursday, February 1, 2018, will be reviewed and considered as part of the process for preparing the final Plan, which will be published in the spring of 2018.

The Plan is a federally mandated policy document that outlines strategies and actions for addressing transportation issues and needs in Connecticut. The foundation of the Plan is Governor Malloy’s Let’s GO CT! strategic transportation initiative, which identified $100 billion in investments to preserve and enhance the state’s transportation infrastructure to meet growing demand and to spur economic growth.

The Plan is prepared in accordance with the provisions of Title 23, Section 135 of the United States Code, as amended by the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act). It is a framework for preparing future, project-specific transportation plans such as CTDOT’s State Transportation Improvement Program. The Plan is generally updated every three to five years. This Plan covers the period from 2018 through 2050.

Copies of the draft Plan may be found at CTDOT’s web site, www.ct.gov/dot/lrp. Hard copies of the draft Plan will be available for review at the CTDOT’s headquarters in Newington and at the offices for each of the Connecticut Regional Planning Organizations. To schedule an appointment to view the draft Plan at the Department of Transportation, call (860) 594-2139.
