CTDOT Updating ADA Transition Plan

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is updating its Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transition plan and is seeking input and involvement from interested individuals and organizations of the ADA community.

Having completed a review of current policies and procedures regarding employment practices, communications, facilities and accessibility at intersections along state-owned roads, the Department is posting the current draft of the ADA/504 Transition Plan on the CTDOT website for easy access for those wishing to comment. The plan establishes a base for accessibility to Connecticut’s transportation system and will be a guide to help ensure transportation is accessible to all users who travel in and through the Connecticut

“Our draft plan details what changes are being proposed to our current procedures, as well as our proposals for correcting existing barriers to accessibility,” said CTDOT Commissioner James P. Redeker. “The success of making our transportation system fully accessible depends on the coordinated efforts of all levels of government, the public, and the policies and strategies outlined in this plan.”

The proposed plan may be found here (https://www.ct.gov/dot/cwp/view.asp?a=4293&q=499956)

CTDOT is asking that all comments be submitted by August 27, 2015, to dot.ADAtransitionplan@ct.gov. Questions may also be addressed to Leo Fontaine, CTDOT Transportation Principal Engineer, at 860 594-3180.
