Stratford Railroad Station Parking Lot Expansion

      The first section of the reconstructed parking lot at the Stratford railroad station has been completed and is now open, providing 145 spaces. The remaining sections of the lot will open in the spring of 2015 and will provide a total of 309 spaces, compared with 122 today.

      In addition to the parking area renovations, additional landscaping upgrades are being performed and drainage improvements implemented.

      “Train station parking can be a headache for commuters, and over the past several years, we have added more than 2,500 parking spaces at stations along the New Haven Line,” said Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker. “We will continue to make these investments for the thousands of commuters who rely on the New Haven Line every day.”

      The Town of Stratford is notifying permit and daily parkers via flyers, signage and emails of the upcoming parking changes. Commuters seeking additional information or updates on the project can visit the Town of Stratford website (www.townofstratford.com) or send contact information to railroad@townofstratford.com to receive information about parking permit availability. “K” permits guarantee the permit holder a space every day, including weekends. “B” permit holders are guaranteed a spot every weekday between 5:30 a.m. and noon, after which time they are available to the general public.

      Daily parkers should be aware that as of November 1, daily parking will no longer be available in the nearby Bally’s lot. Violators will be subject to ticketing and/or towing at the discretion of the property owner and Stratford Police. Pedestrian access to the train station and adjacent restaurant will continue to be maintained at all times during construction; however, pedestrian access through the existing driveway area will be prohibited during the second phase of construction. Pedestrians should either use the stairway adjacent to the tracks or the pedestrian walkway which will be provided adjacent to the new driveway. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists and pedestrians.
