Public Information Meeting – Replacement of Bridge 02781, Route 184 over Shunock River in the town of North Stonington, Connecticut
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) will conduct a Public Information Meeting concerning the replacement of Bridge 02781, Route 184 over Shunock River in the town of North Stonington, Connecticut.  The meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the New Town Hall Meeting Room, 40 Main Street, North Stonington, CT.  If inclement weather occurs on the above scheduled date, the meeting will be rescheduled for March 3, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
The proposed project consists of replacing the bridge with a cast-in-place reinforced concrete deck upon galvanized steel beams. The foundation will consist of integral abutments. The bridge will be lengthened to satisfy the hydraulic criteria of this site.

Work is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2011 and be completed in the fall of 2011.  The rehabilitation of this bridge is to be undertaken with Federal-aid funds.  The estimated construction cost for this project is $2,500,000.

The construction will be performed in stages via an alternating one-way travel lane controlled by temporary signals.  A detour along state routes may also be implemented during the construction to ease constructability. Based on the state highway boundary map, the width of the Route 184 right-of-way at the site is approximately 60 feet; therefore, it is anticipated that temporary construction easements will be necessary.

The Public Information Meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project.

Plans will be on display for public review.  ConnDOT personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project.  More detailed information is available at ConnDOT's Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, Connecticut, during office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.  Anyone wishing to review the plans may contact Ms. Mary E. Baker at (860) 594-3402 or (860) 563-9375 to make an appointment.

All persons interested in this project are welcome to attend this meeting and discuss the project with ConnDOT personnel.
