Connecticut Department of Transportation to Hold Public Open Houses for the New Britain-Hartford Busway Project

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is holding two identical Open Houses for the New Britain-Hartford Busway project.  This round of public involvement is focused on unifying the Busway Project corridor.  There will be an Open House style format with a presentation at two corridor locations.  The sessions will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a short formal presentation offered at 4:30 p.m and 6:30 p.m.  The locations will be as follows:

Tuesday, May 19 on the Central CT State University Campus, Lawrence J. Davidson Hall (in Founders Hall), New Britain, CT

Wednesday, May 20 at the Elmwood Community Center, Ernest O. St. Jacques Auditorium, West Hartford, CT

There will be five information tables that attendees will be able to visit to address specific questions or comments to Project Team Representatives.  The topics of discussion will be:

  • Bus Routes and Schedules
  • Stations - information will be available on all 11 stations
  • Rights of Way
  • Appearance
  • Bus Roadway and Multi Use Trail design

The Presentation will include an update on the overall project mission/philosophy, schedule, budget/financing, design progress, remaining work, and an explanation of the format of the meeting and an orientation to the information tables.  The presentation will also highlight important busway features including the updated Bus Service Plan (Routes and Schedules) and Visual Design Guidelines for the appearance of the busway.
