The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) will hold a public information meeting for the intersection improvements proposed for Silver Lane at Forbes Street.  The meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sunset Ridge School cafeteria on 450 Forbes Street, East Hartford, Connecticut.

The project is identified as State Project Number 042-297.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation's Office of Engineering has developed plans to improve the intersection with the addition of left turn lanes on Silver Lane (S.R. 502) in the Town of East Hartford.

The purpose of the project is primarily to improve safety and traffic operations at the intersection. The existing sidewalks will be replaced as necessary and the drainage system will be upgraded.  In addition, the existing traffic signal will be replaced.  The improvement will require some relocation of the existing overhead utilities along Silver Lane.  The project will provide immediate and long-term safety benefits to the intersection and the estimated cost is $3,300,000.

Personnel from the Department will be available at the meeting to answer any questions the public may have.  Plans of the project will also be available for public inspection.

Deaf and hearing impaired persons wishing to attend this meeting and requiring an interpreter, must make arrangements by contacting the Department of Transportation’s Office of Communications at (860) 594-3062 (voice only) at least five working days prior to the meeting.

All persons interested in this matter are welcome to attend the public information meeting.
