Wilton, Connecticut Connecticut Department of Transportation officials are announcing that there will be a major traffic switch on Route 7 northbound and southbound, between Ridgefield Road (Route 33) and School Road, on Friday night, June 20, 2008, beginning at 8:00pm.  If necessary, work may continue through mid-morning on Saturday, June 21.

Motorists traveling both northbound and southbound on Route 7 will be be shifted onto new pavement between Ridgefield Road and Pimpewaug Road.  From Pimpewaug to School Road, northbound and southbound traffic will split, separated by jersey barriers for work to take place in the middle of the road.  Motorists traveling southbound will continue straight on the newly constructed pavement; those traveling northbound will shift back onto the roadway in it’s current location.

Motorists should expect delays, as there will be alternating one-way traffic and short, intermittent traffic stoppages as the work takes place.  Wilton police will be available to direct traffic and assist motorists during this time.  The Connecticut Department of Transportation appreciates your patience and cooperation as progress continues on the widening and reconstruction project, scheduled for completion in April 2010.

Please use caution when traveling through the construction work zone to ensure the safety of motorists and construction personnel.
