New Speed Change Lanes to Open
I-95 Interchanges 10 and 11 in Darien , CT
The right lane and shoulders will be closed in both directions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m for installation of pavement markings. Once the pavement markings are completed, the new lanes will be opened.

This project was awarded to Waters Construction Company Inc. on July 26, 2006 at a cost of 5.5 million dollars. The next project is scheduled to begin in late Spring of 2008 and will be for the construction of three additional speed-change lanes at Interchanges 11 and 12 in Darien and Interchange 13 in Norwalk;
· 1800 foot lane I-95 north from Interchange 11 on ramp to Interchange 12 off ramp
· 1500 feet lane I-95 south from Interchange 12 on ramp to Interchange 11 off ramp
· 1300 foot lane I-95 north from Interchange 13 on ramp to Interchange 13 off ramp
The speed-change lane is a continuous auxiliary lane between entrance and exit ramps to aid in operational efficiency, and safety. The speed change lanes are located where interchanges are closely spaced in order to provide an additional length for the acceleration and deceleration of vehicles entering or exiting the highway.
Variable message signs will be utilized to notify motorists in advance and also to advise motorists of traffic conditions in the area.
Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and precede with caution through this and all other construction work zones.
