ConnDOT and CTTRANSIT Announce New Locations to Purchase Bus Tickets and Passes

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) announced today a new partnership between CTTRANSIT and Stop & Shop supermarkets for the sale of bus passes and tickets.

CTTRANSIT bus passes and tickets will be available for sale at the customer service counters of fifteen participating Stop & Shop stores.  If this initial pilot program is successful, CTTRANSIT expects to expand sales to other Stop & Shop stores in the Hartford, New Haven, and Stamford areas, as well as towns served by CTTRANSIT and other transit systems throughout Connecticut. The fare items to be sold include 31-day local passes, 10-ride local tickets, 10-ride senior and disabled tickets, and ADA paratransit ticket booklets.

“This new partnership will greatly enhance convenience to our customers who use multi-ride passes and tickets,” said ConnDOT Transit & Ridesharing Administrator Michael A. Sanders. “This is an opportunity to expand our presence in these communities, and I would like to thank Stop & Shop for joining us in this effort.”

“As you know, Stop & Shop has always taken pride in being a convenient ‘one-stop’ shopping experience for our customers,” said Andrea Astrachan, Consumer Advisor for Stop & Shop stores. “Continuing with that theme, we have started selling CTTRANSIT passes and tickets at selected service desks in the Hartford, New Haven and Stamford areas.”

The following Stop & Shop stores are participating in the initial phase of this program:

Greater Hartford

Bloomfield (Copaco Plaza, 331 Cottage Grove Road)
East Hartford (Charter Oak Mall, 940 Silver Lane)
Hartford (150 New Park Avenue)
Vernon (10 Pitkin Road)
West Hartford (1235 Farmington Avenue)
Wethersfield (Jordan Lane Shopping Center, 1380 Berlin Turnpike)

Greater New Haven

Hamden (Putnam Plaza, 1245 Dixwell Avenue)
Hamden (2335 Dixwell Avenue)
Milford (1360 East Town Road)
New Haven (Amity Plaza, 112 Amity Road)
Orange (295 Bull Hill Lane)

Fairfield County

Darien (148 Heights Road)
Norwalk (385 Connecticut Avenue)
Stamford (2200 Bedford Street)
Stamford (1937 West Main Street)

“Partnering with Stop & Shop adds another option for CTTRANSIT customers wishing to take advantage of the cost-savings they get from using popular multi-ride tickets and passes for their bus trips” stated CTTRANSIT General Manager David Lee. “Our passengers can continue to buy their tickets and passes at the downtown Customer Service & Sales Outlets, online at www.cttransit.com, by mail, and now at the fifteen Stop & Shops served by some of our busiest bus routes. If this arrangement with Stop & Shop proves to be the popular choice we hope it will be, the potential for additional partner locations certainly will be explored.”

To make customers aware of this new convenience, advertisements will appear on buses, in CTTRANSIT timetables and at participating store locations.

CTTRANSIT is the state-owned bus transit system serving the greater Hartford, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury, New Britain, Meriden, Bristol and Wallingford areas.
