Stratford/Milford Connecticut – Connecticut Department of Transportation officials have announced that construction activities on the Sikorsky Bridge will require daytime brief traffic stops northbound and southbound on Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) at both ends of the bridge, the following dates and times:

·         Wednesday, September 28 at approximately 10:00AM

·         Tuesday, October 4 at approximately 1:00PM

·         Thursday, October 6 at approximately 2:30PM

The traffic stops are required for blasting the existing concrete piers in the Housatonic River. The duration of each traffic stop will be approximately 10 to 15 minutes, and is required to ensure the safety of motorists.  If weather or other factors cause delays, the work will be rescheduled as soon as possible.  Due to the type and amount of preparation work prior to the actual blasting activity, the weather the day before the scheduled blasting date will effect whether or not the work will take place at the scheduled date and time.  Advance notice will be provided to motorists by the use of variable message signs.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and proceed with caution through this and all other construction work zones.
