Tree Removal Project: Route 44 (Mashamoquet Road) in Pomfret and Eastford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that tree and vegetation removals will be performed on Route 44 (Mashamoquet Road) in Pomfret and Eastford starting on Monday, March 18, 2024.

 To ensure the safety of the public, CTDOT is removing dead, diseased and decaying trees. Additionally, trees and vegetation that have grown into the clear zone, which is the safe space along the side of the roadway, are also being removed. This work helps save lives in the event of a crash or vehicle leaving the roadway.

The tree removal operation is scheduled for Monday, March 18, 2024, through Friday, April 19, 2024. 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures to occur on Route 44, westbound and eastbound, from Route 101 in Pomfret to Route 198 in Eastford.  Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The tree and vegetation removal work are scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
