Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal on Route 133 and 111 in Bridgewater and Monroe

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a pavement preservation project on routes 111 and 133 will begin on April 7, 2024. Asphalt rubber chip seals will occur on Route 133 from the Intersection with Northrup Street to the Intersection with Route 67 and Monroe, Route 111 from the Intersection with Route 110 to the Intersection with the Masuk High School driveway.

This project aims to improve the existing wearing surface and extend the life of the pavement through the use of the asphalt rubberized chip seal. It will also include the installation of concrete sidewalk ramps, centerline rumble strips, replacement of sheet signs, resetting of catch basin tops, cleaning of existing catch basins, replacement of metal beam rail, and the installation of pavement markings.

CTDOT Project No. 0170-3707 was awarded to Comer Contracting, Inc. for $1,860,677.06 on February 22, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed on October 3, 2024.  This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.

Monroe, Route 111, and Bridgewater, Route 133

A minimum of 1 lane of traffic in each direction on a paved travel path not less than 11 feet in  

width shall be maintained at all times.

Allowable alternating one-way traffic on Route 111 and Route 133 as noted below:

  • Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.
