Closure of Miller Street Access to Route 9 in Middletown

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the closure of the Miller Street access to Route 9 starting in Fall 2024. The purpose of this project is to improve the access and safety to Bridge Street and Miller Street by removing the access to Route 9 and converting the Bridge Street emergency access at-grade crossing to allow daily traffic. Work is also anticipated on Portland Street and Bridge Street, which are local roadways separated by a railroad line that runs parallel to Route 9. The project will also consist of installing new sidewalks and ramps as well as new drainage structures.

CTDOT Project No. 0082-0322 was awarded to NJR Construction, LLC for $1,237,295.00 on December 28, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed by November 22, 2024.  This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect alternating one-way traffic operation on local roads Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in Middletown, for the duration of the project. There will also be nighttime lane closures on Route 9 at a later stage in the project.
