The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the upgrade of traffic control signals to meet current standards with railroad pre-emption on Route 5, Route 150 and SR 702 in Wallingford will start on April 4, 2023.
This project consists of removing existing control signals, installation of new traffic signals, controller, pre-emptions, mast arm, mast arm foundation, removing existing sidewalks and ramps, and construct new sidewalk and ramps. These upgrades will enhance visibility, and safety to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
DOT Project No. 0170-3490 was awarded to NY-CONN Corp. at a cost of $4,059,947.00 September 2, 2022 and is scheduled to be completed September 6, 2023. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.

The Contractor will not be permitted to perform any work which will interfere with the described traffic operations on all project roadway as follows.
US. Route 5 (South Colony Road, North Colony Road), Toelles Road, S.R. 702 (Wharton Brook Connector), Ward Street, Route 150 (Hall Avenue and Center Street), Quinnipiac Street, Christian Street, Park Street, North Cherry Street, North Plains Highway, Cedar Lane, Ives Road, Pent Highway, North Cherry Street, South Cherry Street and All Other Roadways
Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. & between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
