Temporary Closure of Route 9 Southbound Exit 23B (old exit 14) offramp in Middletown

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the temporary closure of the Route 9 southbound Exit23B (old exit 14) offramp in Middletown on or around October 16, 2023

Residents, commuters, and the traveling public are advised that on or about October 16, 2023 Route 9 Southbound, Exit 23B (old Exit 14) Dekoven Drive off ramp will be temporarily closed to allow for reconstruction of the ramp with anticipated reopening scheduled for the Fall of 2024.

This work is a part of the Reconfiguration of the Route 17 On-ramp to Route 9 Northbound Project in the City of Middletown and is part of the CTDOT safety improvement initiative to mitigate front-to-rear crashes at the ramp entrance to Route 9 northbound.

DOT Project No. 0082-0316 was awarded to Middlesex Construction at a cost of $54,426,231.20 on February 10, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed October 2026.  This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District One, Rocky Hill, CT.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

The Route 9 Southbound, Exit 23B (old Exit 14) Dekoven Drive off ramp will be temporarily closed.

 

DETOUR INFO

The Route 9 Southbound, off ramp at DeKoven Drive (Exit 23B - Old Exit 14) will be closed until further notice for construction activities to reconfigure the Route 17/9 Interchange.

Traffic will be detoured along Route 17 SB (Exit 23A - Old Exit 13) to Exit 21 (Main Street Extension) to Main Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Way.  All other ramps will remain open.
