Ramp Closure: Route 17 Southbound On-Ramp in Middletown

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that the Route 17 Southbound on-ramp from Main Street Extension will be closed starting on July 28, 2023. The new ramp will be shifted south to align with the Route 17 Southbound off-ramp on the opposite side of Main Street Extension. The ramp is expected to reopen in November 2023. Motorists are advised to follow detour signs and to allow for extra travel time. Pedestrian detours may be used to direct accordingly around the work area.

This work is a part of the reconfiguration of the Route 17 on-ramp to Route 9 Northbound Project in the Middletown and is part of the CTDOT safety improvement initiative to mitigate front-to-rear crashes at the ramp entrance to Route 9 northbound.

DOT Project No. 0082-0316 was awarded to Middlesex Construction at a cost of $50,426,231.20 on February 10, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed October 15, 2026. This project is administered by CTDOT, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
