Pavement Rehabilitation: I-95 in Greenwich and Stamford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that the pavement rehabilitation project on I-95 between exits 2 and 6 north and southbound will begin on December 21, 2023. Construction and lane closures will start April 1, 2024, however, minor activities may take place between December 21, 2023, and April 1, 2024, and may require lane closures.

This project will rehabilitate the existing bituminous pavement with a new more durable pavement mix. It will require milling approximately 3” and placing 2” Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) on top of 1” Binder Rich Interlayer Course (BRIC). Distressed areas that extend beyond the 3” mill will receive additional milling and patching with bituminous. Bridge work consists of SPMO (strip, patch, membrane and overlay), replacement of impacted joints and concrete haunch removal. Traffic loops and signal loops on ramps will be replaced. Additional work includes replacement of catch basin tops, replacement of small traffic signs with no foundations and replacement of pavement markings.

CTDOT Project No. 0056-0316 was awarded to Waters Construction Company at a cost of $61,283,925.38 on November 21, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.

LANE CLOSURE INFO (BEGINNING APRIL 2024):

I-95 Northbound

  • Monday through Friday between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • Friday through Saturday between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
  • Saturday through Sunday between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
  • Sunday through Monday 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

I-95 Southbound

  • Monday through Friday between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • Friday through Saturday between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • Saturday through Sunday between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
  • Sunday through Monday 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

I-95 On/Off Ramps

  • Monday through Thursday between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • Friday through Saturday 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
  • Saturday through Sunday between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
  • Sunday through Monday 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Delavan Ave; Field Point Rd.; Arch St.; Steamboat Rd.; West Ave.; Greenwich Ave.

  • Monday through Sunday between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

    All Other Roadways:

  • Monday through Sunday between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Note: Additional notification will be made for any lane closures that may take place between December 21, 2023, and April 1, 2024.

DETOUR INFO

Exit 5 ramps will be closed Monday through Thursday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. of the following day as needed on days that are to be determined based on contract work requirements. Prior notifications and Variable Message Signs will be posted.
