Pavement Marking Project on I-84 Eastbound in Southington

UPDATE 2/9/2023: Due to inclement weather, this work is now scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a Pavement Marking Project will be performed on Interstate 84 eastbound at Exits 28 and 32 in Southington on Thursday February 9, 2023. 

The project (# DOT0170-3638CN) consists of installing safety marking reflectors on the I-84 eastbound Exit 28 and Exit 32 off-ramps as part of ongoing wrong way driver mitigation measures. This project is being performed by Safety Marking with the assistance of State forces. Work will occur on Thursday February 9, 2023.

This project is administered by CTDOT District 1 Highway Maintenance Department.

RAMP CLOSURE INFO/DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect Exits 28 and 32 on I-84 eastbound in Southington to be closed for a duration of two hours while the work is being performed.  Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to alert motorists. Work schedule for this project is between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

EXIT 28:

Motorists will have to continue to Exit 30 (Marion Avenue) to redirect to I-84 westbound to get off Exit 28 westbound (Route 322). 

EXIT 32:

Motorists will have to continue to Exit 34 (Crooked Street), taking a right at the end of the ramp.  Take another right onto Crooked Street to redirect to I-84 westbound.
