The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that, to facilitate construction work associated with the I-95 Interchange 74 Improvements in East Lyme, the on-ramp to I-95 Northbound at Exit 74 will need to close for two nights during nighttime hours on May 21, 2023 and May 22, 2023.
The on-ramp to I-95 Northbound at Exit 74 will be closed on Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 5:00 AM on Monday and again on Monday, May 22, 2023, from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM on Tuesday. This closure is necessary to restripe the ramp and install the proposed temporary precast concrete barrier for work zone establishment. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour.
DETOUR
To access I-95 Northbound, motorists should continue on Route 161 north, turn right onto Route 1, turn left on to Cross Road, turn left on to Waterford Parkway, and take entrance ramp to I-95 Northbound.
The purpose of the project is to correct the vertical geometry of I-95, replace the I-95 bridge over Route 161, and construct new on and off ramps at Exit 74. DOT Project No. 44-0156 was awarded to Manafort Brothers at a cost of $148,000,000 on February 1, 2023.
** Please note that the start of this closure can change at any time based on weather or resources. **
