Milling and Resurfacing Project: Route 71 in Berlin

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 71 in Berlin from Route 71A Chamberlain Highway to Route 372 Farmington Avenue starting on Wednesday, August 30 through Friday, September 15, 2023. The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 2.30-mile segment of Route 71 in Berlin. This project is scheduled to begin milling on Wednesday, August 30 to Wednesday, September 6, 2023. The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to begin on Thursday, September 7 to Friday, September 15, 2023.

The milling will be performed by Rafferty and the resurfacing will be performed by Galasso Materials.

This project is included in CTDOT’s 2023 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 71 in Berlin from Route 71A Chamberlain Highway to Route 372 Farmington Avenue. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

No work will be performed on Labor Day, September 4, 2023.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
