Milling and Resurfacing Project: Service Routes 635 (Williams Street), 638 (Briggs Street) and 636 (Briggs Street) in New London

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Service Routes 635 (Williams Street), 638 (Briggs Street) and 636 (Briggs Street) in New London starting on Wednesday, August 16 through Thursday, August 31, 2023. The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 0.58-mile segment of Service Route 635 (Williams Street), a 0.16-mile segment of Service Route 638 (Briggs Street) and a 0.64-mile segment of Service Route 636 (Briggs Street). The milling segment for this project is scheduled for Wednesday evening, August 16 through Tuesday morning, August 22, 2023.  The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to be performed on Wednesday evening, August 23, through Thursday morning, August 31, 2023. 

 

This project is included in the CTDOT’s 2023 Vendor Resurfacing Program.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

Motorists can expect lane closures to occur on Service Route 635 (Williams Street) from State Route 641 (Huntington Street) to State Route 638 (Briggs Street), Service Route 638 (Briggs Street) from Service Route 635 (Williams Street) to Service Route 636 (Briggs Street) and Service Route 636 (Briggs Street) from Norwood Avenue to the exit from the Coast Guard Academy in New London. Crash attenuator vehicles, traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday evening – Friday morning.

 

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
