Intermittent Detour of South State Street at Future Stamford Transportation Center Parking Garage Between February 13 through June 2, 2023.

Street between Greenwich Avenue and Washington Boulevard will be closed intermittently due to construction activities for the future Stamford Transportation Center Parking Garage during non- The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that all lanes of South State peak hours (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) between February 13 through June 2, 2023. 

The Stamford Transportation Center Parking Garage project consists of the following elements:

  • 928-space, 7-level parking garage located on South State Street, Stamford.
  • 320-foot pedestrian bridge over Washington Boulevard connecting the garage to the Stamford Transportation Center (STC).
  • Elevators and stairs connecting the garage to the Track 5 platform.
  • 38 electric vehicle parking spaces.
  • 150 bike parking spaces.
  • Centralized STC parking management space and customer counter.
  • Unique architectural design and façade lighting program.
  • Building-integrated photovoltaics for on-site energy production.
  • Minor STC renovations at the pedestrian bridge connection.
  • Pedestrian crossing improvements at South State Street & Washington Boulevard.
  • Connectivity to the planned Mill River Greenway.

DOT Project No. 0301-0047 was awarded to Yonkers Contracting Company at a cost of $77,211,000 on May 14, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in August 2023.  This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction – District 5 in New Haven.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

 

Intermittent closures of all lanes of South State Street between Greenwich Avenue and Washington Boulevard during non-peak hours between February 13 through June 2, 2023. These closures to occur approximately 20 times between the dates indicated. During these closures, all vehicular traffic will be detoured North along Greenwich Avenue to Richmond Hill Avenue. Pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk along the South side of South State Street will be temporarily halted by construction flaggers while suspended loads are being swung into place, and will be allowed to proceed once the load is cleared.
