Installation & Revision of Traffic Control Signals in Various Towns in District 2

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a project for the installation and revision of traffic signals in various towns in District 2 is scheduled to start on Friday, November 24, 2023.

 The project consists of upgrades to existing traffic control signals at 14 locations in Colchester, East Lyme, Groton, Montville, Norwich, Salem, Stonington, and Windham. Additionally, the project will install traffic control signals at a currently unsignalized intersection in Woodstock. The project includes an organizational phase and a construction phase. The construction phase of the project is scheduled to commence on May 9, 2024, and will be completed August 2025. The following intersections are included:

  • Colchester
  • Route 85 (Hebron Road/Old Hartford Road) at SR 615 (Old Hartford Road) (Intersection No. 028-208)
  • Route 16 at Route 2 eastbound ramps & Cemetery Road (Intersection No. 028-215)
  • Route 16 at Route 2 westbound ramps (Intersection No. 028-216)

  • East Lyme
    • Route 156 at Route 161 (Intersection No. 044-206)

  • Groton
    • U.S. Route 1 at Ring Drive & Ella T. Grasso Technical School (Intersection No. 058-234)
    • Route 1 at Central Ave & Drive to Bellows Park (Intersection No. 058-276)

  • Montville
    • Route 82 at Cherry Lane & Caroline Road (Intersection No. 085-217)

  • New London
    • SR 641 (Truman Street) at Blackhall Street & Blinman Street (Intersection No. 094-207)

  • Norwich
    • Route 12 at Hunters Road & Prentice Street (Intersection No. 103-264)
    • SR 642 (West Town Street) at I-395 northbound ramps & Case Street (Intersection No. 103-247)
    • Route 32 & SR 642 at Route 2 westbound ramps (Intersection No. 103-264)

  • Salem
    • Route 85 (Hartford Road) at Rattlesnake Ledge Road (Intersection No. 120-202)

  • Stonington
    • U.S. Route 1 at Spellman Drive & Private Drive (Intersection No. 137-2

    Windham

    • Route 32 at U.S. Route 6 westbound ramps (Intersection No. 163-239)

CTDOT Project No. 0172-0501 was awarded to Ferguson Electric Co., Inc. at a cost of $5,768,972.00 on October 10, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed August 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2.
