The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing temporary barrier curbs will be installed on Route 234 on Bridge #01797 and #01798 to perform deck end repairs. Traffic will be shifted to the north side of the bridge on July 12, 2023. The lane widths will be reduced to 10.5 feet while the work takes place. Deck end repair work on Bridge #01797 and #01798 will be performed behind temporary barrier curb to facilitate expediency and allow the penetrating sealer compound to cure on the new concrete deck ends.
DOT Project 172-523 was awarded to Waters Construction Company, Inc. on March 21, 2023 at a cost of $3,829,436.90 and is scheduled to be completed October 30, 2023. This project is administered by CTDOT District 2 in Norwich.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Beginning Wednesday July 12, 2023, there will be two lanes of traffic open to traffic to proceed in either direction while the barrier curb is in place. The barrier will in place for approximately two weeks at which time it will be reset such that traffic is shifted to the south half of Route 234 for the following two weeks. The total duration for the barrier curb on Route 234 will be four weeks.
