The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a new traffic pattern from December 1, 2023, through March 31, 2024, on Route 82 over the Connecticut River (East Haddam Swing Bridge).
Temporary traffic signals will regulate the alternating traffic. Motorists should expect some delays when crossing the bridge during this period. Additionally, motorists are advised that overnight bridge closures will occur most nights during this period.

CTDOT Project No. 0041-0141 was awarded to American Bridge Company at a cost of $55,255,000 on June 7, 2022. It is scheduled to be completed February 25, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.

-From Route 82 East, traffic will be detoured onto Route 9 South to I-95 North (across the Baldwin Bridge) to Route 156 North to Route 82 West.
Route 82 Westbound
-From Route 82 West, traffic will be detoured onto Route 156 South to I-95 South (across the Baldwin Bridge) to Route 9 North to Route 82 East.
Traveling to/from the North
-Utilize the Arrigoni Bridge, Middletown-Portland (unsigned route).
