Closure: Fairview Avenue in Groton
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the closure of Fairview Avenue in Groton on September 21, 2023 from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The closure will facilitate the installation of strengthening steel on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge above Fairview Avenue, as part of the current Gold Star Memorial Bridge Rehabilitation Project.
CTDOT Project No. 0094-0256 was awarded to Aetna Bridge Company for $50,895,103.60 on December 1, 2021, and is scheduled to be completed June 25, 2025. This project is being administered by CTDOT Division of Construction Operations, District 2 in Norwich.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
On September 21, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Fairview Avenue in Groton will be closed between Bridge Street and Grove Avenue. Traffic will be detoured to Route 12 around the closure area in question (see plan below).
The road closure will be maintained with a combination of construction signs, traffic drums, and other traffic control devices.
Motorists are advised to use caution and maintain a safe speed when driving through work zones.
