The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT)  is announcing that a traffic shift will occur on Route 34 near the intersection of Wasserman Way and for a new temporary on ramp for I-84 Exit 11 to allow for work on two retaining walls on the northern side of Route 34.  The noted traffic shifts are scheduled to occur on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

The project consists of intersection improvements on Route 34 at Wasserman Way (SR 490) in Newtown.  In addition, traffic will be shifted onto a new temporary I-84 Exit 11 on ramp.  The new temporary on ramp’s location is next to the existing one which is being closed to allow for permanent reconstruction.  Traffic will be shifted to the southern curb line to allow for work to be done on two retaining walls on the northern side of Route 34.

DOT Project No. 0096-0204 was awarded to A.M. Rizzo at a cost of $25,188,198.00 on September 21, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed on May 3, 2024.  This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

All lanes are open but will be shifted on Route 34 at Wasserman Way.  Traffic entering I-84 at Exit 11 will use a new temporary ramp adjacent to the old one.
