The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a road closure of Rowley Street for replacement of the bridge over Mad River will begin on May 23, 2022.
Bridge 00617 is a single span, multi concrete-encased girder bridge that was constructed in 1928. It has a curb-to-curb width of 32’-2” and a total structure length of 68 feet. The superstructure is supported by unreinforced concrete abutments. Due to the condition and age of the existing structure, the project was initiated to replace the bridge.
DOT Project No. 0062-0155 was awarded to McNamee Construction Corp at a cost of $4,944,000.00 on December 15, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed by October 2022. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.
LANE CLOSURE AND DETOUR INFO
Prior to May 23, 2022, lane closures can be expected daily, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. A complete road closure of Rowley Street (Service Route 800) can be expected beginning May 23, 2022 until approximately September 11, 2022. After September 11, 2022, lane closures can be expected daily, Monday through Friday between9 a.m. and 3 p.m. until the completion of the project.
Rowley Street will be closed from May 23, 2022 until September 11, 2022. Traffic will be detoured onto Route 8 southbound, then onto Pinewoods Road, and finally onto SR 800.
