Rehabilitation of Dexter Coffin Bridge between Windsor Locks and East Windsor

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the commencement of work on January 2, 2023 for the rehabilitation of the Dexter Coffin Bridge (Bridge No. 00454), which carries Interstate 91 over the Connecticut River in Windsor Locks and East Windsor.

This project consists of steel repairs within the superstructure and existing girders using cover plates and ultra-high performance concrete, bearing replacement, joint replacement, deck repairs, new membrane waterproofing and pavement overlay. 

DOT Project No. 0165-0509 was awarded to Rotha Contracting Company, Inc of Avon, Conn. at a cost of $24,230,000.00 on November 9, 2022, and is scheduled to be completed on November 18, 2024. This project is administered by the Office of Construction – District 1 in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

Motorists can expect traffic operation impacts and lane closures on the following roadways:

Windsor Locks:

  • I-91 Northbound and Southbound, Exits 42 and 44
  • Route 159 (South Main Street)

East Windsor:

  • South Water Street

Work will occur Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

No Detours are currently anticipated at this time.
