The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that Interstate 91 Northbound Exit 28 to Routes 5/15 Southbound will reopen on Friday night, September 9, 2022.
The I-91 Northbound ramp to Route 5/15 Southbound has been temporary closed since June 3, 2019, with a detour route in place, to facilitate the lowering of Routes 5/15 Southbound under I-91, a major stage of construction activity as part of the I-91 Charter Oak Bridge Project. The ramp reopening will reduce the travel time commuters have been experiencing following the detour.
CTDOT Project number 0063-0703 and 0159-0191 was awarded to O&G / BHD, Joint Venture at a cost of $240 million. Work began on April 1, 2019 and is anticipated to be completed by November 2022. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Hartford.
