The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the scheduled transition to Stage 3 construction activities on the ongoing Arrigoni Bridge rehabilitation project in Middletown and Portland, starting on April 13, 2021.
The construction “stage shift” consists of placing temporary concrete barrier on Route 17 / Route 66 to facilitate work on the eastbound lanes of the Arrigoni Bridge approach spans. The placement of the barrier will reduce the bridge to one travel lane in each direction, with periodic alternating one-way traffic occurring in the overnight hours.
Stage 3 is anticipated to be completed on September 21, 2021, to be followed by finalizing and completing miscellaneous rehabilitation activities.

Motorists are urged to remain alert, drive cautiously and to reduce speeds in the work zone.
The project was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. at a cost of $46,289,385.04 on January 13, 2020, and is scheduled to be completed February 25, 2022.
