Scheduled Overnight Closure and Detour of Route 8 Southbound in Waterbury
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing a scheduled overnight closure and detour of Route 8 southbound in Waterbury at Exit 32 beginning on July 23, 2021, at 11 PM, and reopening on July 24, 2021, at 6 AM. The closure and detour are necessary to facilitate ongoing construction activities associated with the rehabilitation of the Route 8/I-84 Interchange (Mixmaster) project.
The detour will be signed and will direct motorists to follow Route 8 southbound to Exit 32 (Riverside Street), and then to follow Riverside Street to the Route 8 southbound Naugatuck/Bridgeport on-ramp.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is working to inform motorists and residents of current and upcoming construction activities through project newsletters, press notices, travel alerts, social media, as well as the project website, https://mixmaster-rehab.com/.
