Scheduled Closure and Detour of Route 156 over the Niantic River in East Lyme and Waterford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the scheduled closure and detour of Route 156 over the Niantic River in East Lyme and Waterford beginning March 25, 2021, at 8 AM, and reopening Saturday night, March 27, 2021, by 11:59 PM. The closure is necessary to facilitate ongoing construction activities, including the rehabilitation of bridge mechanical components.
Detour Information - The detour route is an 8-mile loop:
- From Route 156 east, follow Route 161 north to Route 1 east to Niantic River Road south.
- From Route 156 west, follow Niantic River Road north to Route 1 west to Route 161 south.
