The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the road closure and associated detour will begin on Monday, June 14, 2021, ending Sunday August 8, 2021 on the replacement of Bridge No. 02967 over Wyassup Brook in the Town of North Stonington.
Contract 0101-0117 consists of the replacement of Bridge No. 02967, Route 49 over Wyassup Brook in the Town of North Stonington.
The contract was awarded to Arborio Corporation of Cromwell, CT on December 3, 2020 at a cost of $1,450,581.00 and is scheduled to be completed October 6, 2021.
Bridge No. 02967, is a 13-foot concrete span with masonry Abutments and Wingwalls, carrying 2 lanes of Route 49 traffic over an Wyassup Brook. The Structure will be replaced with a 30-foot span, Three-Sided Rigid Frame, that will provide five-foot shoulders with Vertical Concrete Parapets and installation of new Metal Beam Rail.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
The Contractor will not be permitted to perform any work which will require interruptions of traffic on Route 49 as follows during non-road closure times: Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. & between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
An 8-week Road Closure and Detour will be implemented starting 12:01 A.M. on Monday, June 14, 2021 and ending 11:59 P.M. on Sunday, August 8, 2021 to remove existing structure and construct new structure, including installation of new full depth paving. During this time the Contractor will not be permitted to perform any work on the project on Route 49 as follows: Monday through Sunday between 9:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M.
Route 49 South will be detoured to Route 216 East to Route 184 Westbound. Route 49 North will be detoured on 184 East to Route 216 Westbound.
