The Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a Public Informational Meeting concerning the proposed Replacement of Bridge No. 04972, Greens Farms Road over Sasco Brook on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. The formal presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The project is identified as State Project No. 0158-0219.

The purpose of the project is to replace Bridge No. 04972, which is currently structurally deficient and scour critical. The bridge, constructed in 1973, consists of a reinforced concrete sacrificial slab supported by reinforced concrete rigid frame units on reinforced concrete stub abutments and pier. The total structure length and width measure 35 feet and 36 feet, 2 inches, respectively. The proposed replacement consists of a single span AASHTO concrete box beam superstructure on new reinforced concrete abutments and wingwalls. The structure will have a 60-foot clear span with a 32-foot curb-to-curb width consisting of two, 12-foot travel lanes and two, 4-foot shoulders.

There are right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements. Construction easements will be required for construction activities associated with replacing the bridge and rights for driveway reconstruction and installation of guiderail. Drainage rights-of-way will be required for the installation and maintenance of the new drainage outlet pipe system that will need to be performed on private property.

Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2023 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $2,290,000. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80 percent Federal funds and 20 percent Municipal funds.
