Virtual Public Information Meeting Concerning Horizontal Curve Signing Project on State Roads in Coventry

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the proposed project to install horizontal curve signs on state roads in Coventry on Thursday, January 14, 2021. The formal presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. Refer to the project webpage for more detail: http://portal.ct.gov/DOTCoventry171-440.

The project is identified as State Project No. 0171-0440.

Project No. 0171-0440 will systemically install/upgrade horizontal alignment signs on all state-owned and maintained roads across all municipalities in District 1 (Central CT). The project will also be removing any horizontal alignment signs on curves where signs are no longer warranted. The purpose of this project is to reduce the number of fatal and serious injury crashes on curves located on state-owned and maintained roads. The roads included under this project in the Town of Coventry are U.S. Routes 6 and 44 and Connecticut Routes 31, 195, and 275.

Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project are not anticipated.

Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2022. The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $3,000,000. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 100-percent federal funds.

The public informational meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. (Allow one week for processing and delivery).

Persons with hearing and/or speech disabilities may dial 711 for Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS). The MS Teams Live Event offers closed-captioning for the hearing impaired and non-English translation options. A recording of the formal presentation will be posted to YouTube following the event and closed captioning (including non-English translation options) will be available at that time.
