NEWINGTON, CT – The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s (Department) Office of Engineering is developing plans to rehabilitate the pavement on Route 153 in the town of Essex and Route 11 in both the northbound and southbound directions in the towns of Colchester and Salem.
The purpose of the project is to preserve the pavement condition. The project involves rehabilitating the pavement on Route 153 between mile point 3.02 (the Westbrook/Essex town line) and mile point 5.25 (Route 154) and on Route 11 between mile point 10.38 (the beginning of the expressway section) and mile point 17.80 (the terminus of Route 11 at Route 82).
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in early 2022, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2022 assuming acceptance of the project and availability of funding. This project will be undertaken with one hundred percent (100%) State funds.
